In this episode, I interviewed Dave McDowell. Dave is the Lead Performance Coach at Brock University in Ontario, Canada. Here, he primarily works with the rugby and volleyball teams. Dave has a passion for speed and power development as well as collecting data in different ways to monitor athlete progress, fatigue, and use in the return to sport/play process.
Some topics we discuss are...
Dave's background, education, current position.
The importance of speed and power in sport.
How Dave uses olympic lifts, med balls, sprints, and jumps, to develop speed and power.
Dave's sprinting technique work he does with his athletes.
What data he collects on his athlete and why.
What he would have told himself as an athlete when he was younger.
One of his biggest pet peeves in the S&C industry.
