On this episode I interviewed Cameron Ferguson who is the Head of Conditioning and Rehab at the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles in the NRL. Cameron has also had prior experience working with the Gold Coast Suns AFL team.
This episode talks about Cameron’s position as a rehab coach and gets some of his insights seeing things from both the rehab and performance perspectives across the continuum.
Topics discussed…
- What his job as a rehab coach entails.
- How he communicates and helps the cross over between the rehab and performance teams.
- How different philosophies of high performance managers, head coaches, and sports change the planning, preparation, and training of a club.
- What some return to sport/performance criteria he commonly uses and tech he uses to help with that.
- His main goals/principles to help try and keep players on the field read to play instead of injured.
- Rugby being a physical sport, how does he modify and try to keep athletes training during season when they constantly come in with a minor injury week to week from the last game.
- Biggest piece of advice/knowledge for working across the performance and rehab continuum for both the physio/S&C and athletes.
