Wednesday Apr 15, 2020
Wednesday Apr 15, 2020
In this episode I interview Sam Allain, a Physiotherapist with a special interest in pain science. Sam works at two private practices and is also the Sports Physio for a state level Australia rules football team on the Gold Coast
Pain is something that is very complex and often misunderstood. Sam does a great job of explaining pain and pain in sport in this episode. This is a great listen for athletes dealing with any type of pain as well as coaches/practitioners to understand what the athletes could be going through.
In this episode we discussed...
Sam's best definition of pain in all its complexity.
The different types of pain.
Pain with actual damage to the body and pain that is still real, but more "perceived."
Different pain through an injury and what is "good" pain and "bad" pain.
How he deals with acute injury pain.
His take on icing.
How he deals with chronic pain.
And much more!
